IV. After School Clubs Information
On Monday, October 3, a representative from Fierce Youth Reigniting Excellence (F.Y.R.E.) will be visiting Boston Prep to present to middle school girls after school from 12pm – 12:30pm. The plan is to bring F.Y.R.E. to Boston Prep to deliver an in-person after school program curriculum for up to 20 girls, starting in mid-to-late October. F.Y.R.E. is a leadership and empowerment program for middle school girls. The program’s curriculum incorporates social justice education, positive identity development, and civic engagement to empower girls to be change makers in their community. During the presentation, students will learn about F.Y.R.E. program and its application process. Information about the program structure, application process and application deadline will be shared with families following the presentation. You can also find an overview about F.Y.R.E. here. If you would like to have your student stay after school on Monday, October 3 from 12pm – 12:30pm to receive information about F.Y.R.E., please complete this form by Friday, September 30. If you have questions, please reach out to Fina Fontes, Director of Extracurriculars at fina.fontes@student.bostonprep.org.
After-school clubs take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between the hours of 3:10 pm and 4:15 pm. On the Extracurricular Activities website, students and families can learn about the clubs, what time they meet, and in what classroom they meet. If your student is interested and wants to join a club, please remind them to complete the SY23 Club Sign-Up Form (click here) to sign up for a club – they will need to be signed into their Boston Prep Google Account to sign up for clubs. If you have questions, please reach out to Fina Fontes, Director of Extracurriculars at fina.fontes@student.bostonprep.org.
Middle School House of Representatives
The application for Middle School House of Representatives is open! Middle School students can be the representative for their homeroom and be a leader and voice in our community. They will help plan school events, be schoolwide leaders, and share concerns of the student body with the leadership team. If your student is interested in being part of our student government, they can apply here!
III. Persistence Program Notifications
Senior College/Career Family Meetings: Throughout the month of September, the College Counseling Office will be holding individual family meetings to discuss the college process and timeline. Ariel Perry and Sarah Dewey, our college counselors, will be reaching out to schedule these meetings throughout the months of September and October. During the meeting, we will discuss your senior’s college/career list, as well as ways in which we hope to partner with you throughout the year. If possible, we ask that all families bring their 2021 taxes, as that is an important part of the financial aid process. Any questions or want to schedule? Reach out to acanto@bostonprep.org
Fall Rep Visits: Starting Monday, September 19th through Friday, November 4th, the College Counseling Office will be hosting several colleges and universities on campus. These visits are a great opportunity for our seniors to meet directly with admission staff from a variety of institutions throughout the country. We are aiming to have every senior attend 1-2 visits this fall. This week, we will be welcoming the following colleges/universities: Fisher College, College of Mount Saint Vincent, Boston University and Occidental College.
PSAT: We will be offering the PSAT on October 12th to all juniors. The PSAT will provide our juniors with the opportunity to practice for the SAT. While many colleges/universities are SAT optional, we still want to provide all of our students the opportunity to practice and sit for the SAT in the spring. If you have any questions about the PSAT or related resources to support your student, reach out to Aaron Canto at acanto@bostonprep.org
