I. Flu Clinic Interest Survey

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting the flu vaccine every year. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over 6 months old, every fall. In order to make the vaccine more accessible, Boston Prep is hoping to partner with CVS to have a flu clinic, on-site, for students, families, and staff.

Please fill out this short survey so we can see if this is a service that will be of interest to families by Friday, October 7, 2022.

II. No School: Indigenous People’s Day

Observing Indigenous Peoples Day is about replacing the colonial myths passed down from generation to generation with the true history of the land upon which our nation was founded. In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, Boston prep will be closed on Monday, October 10th. Classes will resume the following day on Tuesday, October 11th. 


III. Updated Calendar for SY23 

An updated calendar has been posted here.

Please note the dates for Winter Break are December 23, 2022 - January 2nd, 2023. We will return from Winter Break and be back in the building on Tuesday, January 3rd.

 

IV. SY24 Enrollment Application is NOW OPEN!

Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is now open!

If you have a child that is entering grades 6-10 next fall and would like them to enroll at Boston Prep or know someone who is interested in enrolling at Boston Prep you can find the application here. If your child already attends Boston Prep you do not need to re-apply. Your child’s seat will be secured for the following school year.

V. Rocktober in the Middle School

Boston Prep Middle School will be celebrating the month of October with Rocktober. There will  be events throughout the week as well as special prizes and opportunities to dress up on certain days, following certain themes related to our Boston Prep Commitments! If your child will not be dressing up, students are expected to be in full uniform. The first week our focus will be on “Demonstrating Courage and Kindness.”

Note: Since October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, every Wednesday in October students and One Team can wear Pink in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.



VI. PSAT for Juniors

PSAT for Juniors will be on Wednesday, October 12th.  Juniors will be taking the PSAT at school. The test will start promptly at 8am, so please make sure your student gets a good night's rest the day prior to ensure they are on time and ready to take their test. Students will need to turn in all electronics to their testing proctor and should come to school in uniform

 

VII.  Latinx Heritage Month Celebration

This month we will celebrate by having an art and poetry contest for students. The winners will be announced at our October event. Families are encouraged to attend!  See flyers below.

Time: 6-7:30pm

VIII. Middle School Fall Festival Family Potluck 

This will be a time for families, students, and teachers to build community and get to know each other. There will be food, games, music, and time to tour classrooms. We would love your support with the potluck by bringing in food and drink items to share with our middle school community! All are welcome to attend, even if you do not bring a food item. Food will be provided!

IX. High School: Back to School Night

This is an opportunity to meet and build relationships with your students’ teachers, walk through your students’ sample school day, and learn about Boston Prep’s Grading for Equity policy.

  • Time: 4:30pm to 7:00pm 

  • Location: Boston Prep

X. Persistence Program Notifications

  • Senior College/Career Family Meetings: Throughout the months of September and October, the College Counseling Office will be holding individual family meetings to discuss the college process and timeline. Ariel Perry and Sarah Dewey, our college counselors, will be reaching out to schedule these meetings throughout the months of September and October. During the meeting, we will discuss your senior’s college/career list, as well as ways in which we hope to partner with you throughout the year. If possible, we ask that all families bring their 2021 taxes, as that is an important part of the financial aid process. Any questions or want to schedule? Reach out to acanto@bostonprep.org

  • Fall RepVisits: Starting Monday, September 19th through Friday, November 4th, the College Counseling Office will be hosting several colleges and universities on campus. These visits are a great opportunity for our seniors to meet directly with admission staff from a variety of institutions throughout the country. We are aiming to have every senior attend 1-2 visits this fall. This week, we will be welcoming the following colleges/universities: Fisher College, College of Mount Saint Vincent, Boston University and Occidental College.
