VI. MBTA Update: Orange Line Service Paused: Service Suspended: 8/20-9/18
The MBTA will be pausing all Orange Line services for four weeks (8/20-9/18/2022). While this maintenance schedule will undoubtedly impact our students and families right at the beginning of the school year, up to 200 Shuttle buses will be provided free for all riders. MBTA officials have not decided exactly what route the shuttle buses will run or at which Orange Line stations they will stop. Please stay tuned for additional updates from the MBTA. As we continue to discover more about these options, we will continue to communicate with our families. We thank you for your patience during this challenging time. We do not anticipate an impact with our yellow school busing except for some possible delays due to traffic.
In the meantime, you can:
Expect delays – decreased public transit access means increased road traffic.
Please plan accordingly and well in advance
Email any questions/concerns to: transportation@bostonprep.org Monday-Friday from 8 AM -4 PM.
It is our greatest hope that during this time, the MBTA will swiftly address the systemic issues that impact our students, staff and all public transportation travelers. Please expect updates over the next several weeks. Thank you for your continued partnership as we navigate what lies ahead.
VII. Yellow School Bus Information
This week, bus assignments will be emailed and mailed home to families of all 6th grade students and students with IEPs that require door-to-door transportation. Please expect letters to arrive in your mailbox by Friday or Saturday. If you have questions, please email transportation@bostonprep.org.
VIII. Summer Assignments
All Boston Prep students have summer assignments to complete to continue growing their skills over the summer months. Assignments are available on the Boston Prep website throughout the summer. Students have different assignments based on their grade level.
Rising 6th graders: Summer Reading
Rising 7th graders: Summer Reading & Math
Rising 8th - 12th graders: Summer Reading, Math, & History
Note that “rising” indicates the grade the student will be entering in the Fall. For example, rising 6th graders are students who just completed 5th grade and will enter 6th grade in the fall.
Please make sure your students come to school with their completed assignments and materials for the first week of school!
