I. Summer Family Town Hall #2: This Wednesday, July 28, 6:00 PM
All Boston Prep families are invited to join us for our second virtual Summer Family Town Hall to engage in community-building and collaborative planning as we look ahead to the new school year. We look forward to sharing our most up-to-date plans, seeking your input, and answering your questions. Pre-registration is required.
II. Summer Assignments
All Boston Prep students have summer assignments to complete to continue growing their skills over the summer months. Assignments are available on our Family Resources website throughout the summer. Students have different assignments, based on their grade level.
Rising 6th graders: Summer reading
Rising 7th graders: Summer reading & math
Rising 8th - 12th graders: Summer reading, math, & history
Note that “rising” indicates the grade the student will be entering in the Fall. For example, rising 6th graders are students who just completed 5th grade and will enter 6th grade in the fall.
III. Summer Meal Access
We will continue to serve nutritious, delicious, freshly prepared meals throughout the summer! These meals are FREE to all children 18 and under, whether or not they attend Boston Prep. Meals are available for pick-up Tuesday - Thursday, 8am - 6pm.
IV. 2021-2022 Calendar
An updated 2021-2022 calendar is available on our website. The first day of school for all students will be Monday, August 30, which will be a half day. While we had previously communicated that the first week of school would be all half days, please note that it will be a regular week of school following normal start and dismissal times (as shown below).
V. Child Tax Credit
Most families are now eligible for new monthly payments of $250 to $300 per child through the expanded federal Child Tax Credit. Families whose income was not high enough to have had to file taxes in recent years will not automatically receive the benefit but should sign up:
All you’ll need to apply are a reliable mailing address, an e-mail address, Social Security numbers for your children, and Social Security Numbers (or ITIN) for you and your spouse.
If you provide bank account information, you can receive your payment safely and securely by direct deposit.
VI. Help Stop a Threat to Charter School Funding
A bill recently put forth by the House Appropriations Committee includes a dangerous provision that would severely limit the federal funding available to charter schools. Please help us ensure our students receive the funding they deserve to access a high quality education! Take 2 minutes to complete this quick form to send an email to Congress now to ask them to protect charter school funding.
