I. COVID Testing
At Boston Prep, health and safety is our number one priority. We ask for your help, as families, in a few ways.
Keep your child home if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. If you believe your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please immediately contact our nurses, Ms. Golafaie, Ms. Etheart and Ms. Fenoglietto, at nurses@bostonprep.org. Our nurses will partner with you to determine whether your child must remain home from school and for how long.
If you have not yet registered your child for our FREE COVID testing program, please do so now!
II. Dismissal Updates
Our students and faculty have been working incredibly hard this fall. We know that in order to be our best, we all also need time to care for ourselves. As a result, we will provide space for our community to rest and rejuvenate. Please see dismissal time changes on the following dates:
THIS WEEK: Friday, October 15th: Dismissal will be at 12pm (like a normal Monday schedule). There will be no after school activities.
Friday, November 12th: No School
III. Ross Field
Recently, we have received reports of unsafe activities happening at Ross Field (after school hours) that have not involved Boston Prep students. We have communicated with families about this. We are also hearing reports of Boston Prep students gathering in large groups at Ross Field after school and we are hearing reports -- from neighbors -- of some Boston Prep students lingering at Ross Field after the start of school day in the morning. We do make loops through Ross Field as we are able; however, it is off campus and we do not have Boston Prep staff at Ross Field every day. That said, we know that Ross Field -- given its proximity to Boston Prep -- is a place where students hang out before school and after school. As such, we want to share a transparent update with families so that we can all communicate with students about safety and community expectations at Ross Field. Please speak with your child(ren) about not lingering in the park and encourage them to share with you at home, and us at school, any concerning behaviors at the park. Any information reported to the school regarding concerns at Ross Field will be handled with discretion and with the privacy of all individuals involved at the forefront. Please reach out to our Assistant Principals, VaLonda Harris and Eric Tabb, with any questions or concerns.
Thank you.
IV. Attendance Update
Attendance is crucial to a student’s success at Boston Prep. Students cannot master the content and skills of our rigorous academic program without being in school and on time every day. If your child has had a certain amount of unexcused tardies and/or unexcused absences, you will start to receive a letter in the mail or by email explaining the status of your child’s attendance, along with next steps taken. As a reminder, 8:01am is considered tardy!
If you have any questions in regards to the attendance policy or this letter, please do not hesitate to email: attendance@bostonprep.org
V. SAT Update
Due to the pandemic, we have decided to cancel the October 13th SAT at Boston Prep. If your senior would still like to take the SAT, they will need to register for the November 6th SAT at an off-site location. Mr. Canto and Mrs. Dewey will be able to assist your senior in registering for that date if there is interest. You can reach Mr. Canto at: acanto@bostonprep.org or Ms. Dewey at: sdewey@bostonprep.org
VI. PSAT Update
All juniors will be taking the PSAT on Tuesday, October 26th. The exam will be from 8am-12pm. Students receiving extended time should finish the exam closer to 2pm. Breakfast and lunch-to-go will be provided. There will be no classes the day of, after the exam is finished for Juniors.
Students are expected to arrive at Boston Prep in uniform on test day.
