Dear Boston Prep Faculty,
On behalf of the Class of 2019, we would like to start by saying thank you for your extreme hard work and dedication over the last four years. Whether you taught us for one year or all four years of high school, your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Each and every single senior sitting in this room has you to thank for their overall growth as students and learners because each day you come to work and put forth huge amounts of effort to make us better students.
Each of us is lucky enough to walk into school each morning knowing that we will surrounded by people that truly and genuinely care about our well being and success as individuals. As one senior stated, “Each teacher shows a genuine care for the education of the students, which is something many students from different schools can't say their teachers have.” The same senior expressed his gratitude towards a particular teacher stating that she held him to high expectations because she saw potential in him as a student. While this is one specific example, we know that each teacher feels the same way about each of their students. You all see our potential, and we will forever be grateful for that.
Another student said of her college counselor that she was filled with confidence in times of doubt, and it was this boost of confidence that encouraged her to apply Early Decision to her top school and eventually be accepted. You make us believe in ourselves in ways we haven’t before, and it is for this reason that many of us are going to our top schools or doing something as simple as trying out for a sport we have never tried before and making the team.
Being a teacher is not easy— it requires a lot of patience and time, and we did not make this job any easier. If you can recall this class specifically in middle school, and more specifically the Edinburgh homeroom, you’d understand. However, we’ve grown, and we owe this to our amazing teachers. We thank you for your support. We will never forget the countless lessons you’ve taught us, along with the long Key Point Sets, the stress of reaching 80% on Khan, art in general, learning about CRAC in Con Law, the pill bugs in AP Bio, and the list goes on.
Again, we will forever be thankful for your hard work and dedication, for some of us, over the past seven years and for others of us over the past four years. Iit has been an amazing journey. One senior captured what you mean to our community perfectly when he said, “The teachers are the REAL reason Boston Prep is Boston Prep.” You make the Boston Prep community better in every way possible, so for this we say thank you!
With gratitude,
The Boston Prep Class of 2019
