I. COVID Testing:

At Boston Prep, health and safety is our number one priority. We ask for your help, as families, in a few ways.

Keep your child home if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. If you believe your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please immediately contact our nurses, Ms. Golafaie and Ms. Etheart, at nurses@bostonprep.org.

Thank you for continuing to be our partners in ensuring the health and safety of the Boston Prep community.

II. EOY Requests from the Nurse's Office:

Medication pick-up

If your child has any medications that he/she takes at school, it will need to be picked up from the nurse’s office by the end of day, Friday June 24th . Per policy, medications MUST be picked up by a parent or guardian. Medications cannot be given to students to take home. Any medications not picked up by the end of day on Friday, June 24th will be discarded.

Yearly Physicals

Parents are required to submit an up-to-date physical exam/immunization record from their doctor each year. If your child has had their annual physical exam or you have not yet submitted the record of their most recent exam, please either drop the record off at the school or fax a copy to the nurses at 617-333-6689.

III. School Safety Update:

On June 14th, there was a physical altercation involving two high school students and a middle school student. We quickly de-escalated the situation, and out of an abundance of caution contacted the Boston Police Department. We are now in the process of conducting a thorough investigation to determine appropriate next steps. We will continue to work diligently to ensure all Boston Prep students have access to a safe learning environment.

IV. Last Week of School Dismissal Updates

High School students are testing (6/21-6/24) . They have received an individualized exam schedule based on which exams they are taking. Friday, June 24th is a make up test day. High School students do not need to come to school unless they are making up an exam on Friday, 6/24.

V. No School in Celebration of Juneteenth

A reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, June 20th in observance of Juneteenth, an official Massachusetts state holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 when officials in Texas issued an order freeing the remaining people held in slavery, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a day for celebration, and also an opportunity to confront the racial inequity that persists today in our country. We are proud of our collective commitment to understand the root causes of inequity and advance racial equity. Over the past years, Boston Prep has taken important steps, including adopting definitions of equity and racial equity, detracking classrooms, diversifying our teaching force and school leadership, building capacity around culturally responsive instruction, and creating an antiracist vision and mission statements while buiding on Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

VI. Congratulations to our 2022 Senior Graduates

Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

We are so proud of everything they have accomplished. They worked hard to achieve their goals and now they are on their way to seek new vistas, dream new dreams, and embark on who they are! We cannot wait to see what other amazing things they do. We hope they never forget to take chances, stay true to themselves, and get out there and change the world! As always, RISE LIKE A PHOENIX!

…and that’s a wrap! Congratulations and well done!
