I. COVID Testing
At Boston Prep, health and safety is our number one priority. We ask for your help, as families, in a few ways.
Keep your child home if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. If you believe your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please immediately contact our nurses, Ms. Golafaie, Ms. Etheart and Ms. Fenoglietto, at nurses@bostonprep.org. Our nurses will partner with you to determine whether your child must remain home from school and for how long.
If you have not yet registered your child for our FREE COVID testing program, please do so now!
II. Covid 19 vaccination now available for ages 5-11:
Did you know that children ages 5 to 11 who live or go to school in Massachusetts are now eligible to get the Pfizer vaccine? It has been authorized by the CDC for use in children ages 5-11 on November 2. You don't need identification or insurance to get it. Contact your child’s health care provider or search VaxFinder.mass.gov for vaccination appointments.
You can also get information on vaccinating people ages 12-17, please visit: mass.gov/COVIDvaccineyouth
III. Cell Phone & Electronics Policy
This cell phone/Electronic Device/Headphone policy is intended to improve engagement and retention in classroom learning, to lessen distractions either of ourselves or of other students from learning, to foster mindfulness, and to ensure the privacy of others.
After a year of increased reliance and distraction on screens, we are focusing on learning together and being in community with each other versus our devices, as such:
Students MAY USE cellphones/electronics/headphones:
o Before School
o During Lunch
o After School - After school program use depends on program leader
permission
Students MAY NOT USE cellphones/electronics/headphones in
o Hallways - during class time & transitions
o Bathrooms
o Locker Rooms
o Classes, advisory, community, circle, and small group instruction - Unless
teacher directly gives permission
Thank you for helping and supporting us as we enforce this policy with our students.
IV. No Parking: Please do not pick up or drop off your student on River Street unless you are in designated street parking. This blocks traffic and causes safety issues. Please pull into the bus loop or find associated street parking. Additionally, please make sure to use the crosswalks when crossing River Street, and do not cross near the entrance to the bus loop. It is a blind turn, and can be dangerous. The crosswalk was designed to be in the safest possible location, and is supported by a crossing guard. We have staff positioned throughout the bus loop, and please look to them for directions. We know that pick up and drop off is difficult with the smaller loop this year, and we appreciate your help in making this process as smooth and safe as possible.
V. Upcoming Family Town Halls
Our Family Town Hall that was scheduled for tonight has been postponed! We have rescheduled it for Tuesday, December 7, 6:00 PM. If you haven’t registered yet, you still have time to click on this link and Register. Visit our website to view our other upcoming Town Halls.
